Volunteer Hours

Maverick Volunteers: Charging In to Help, One Good Deed at a Time!

Not all heroes wear capes—some wear backpacks and answer emails about bake sales. Whether you’re organizing events, helping the community, or just really good at showing up on time, you’re part of what makes Maverick Nation amazing.

Morton Ranch High School Volunteer Information

Morton Ranch High School students have the opportunity to earn a cord to wear at graduation for completing community service projects and volunteering in our community their Senior year. The program is aimed at instilling knowledge and traits into each student that when they graduate they will enter society as productive and responsible citizens of the community.

Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen have the opportunity to receive an award at their Class Awards Ceremony for completing the following hours:

  • Juniors: 45 hours
  • Sophomores: 30 hours
  • Freshmen: 15 hours

The requirements necessary to receive recognition at graduation are:

  • Complete required number of hours - Seniors 60 hours of community service that is documented.
  • Submit hours on School Links. You must click on your graduating class to ensure that is where your hours are being tracked. Please note that other MRHS groups that require hours are also in this program. Hours cannot be counted twice. For example, if you volunteer for National Honor Society and submit hours there, you cannot submit them also in your graduating class.
  • When entering hours, please note that:
    • No more than 10 hours per day per event.
    • No more than 30 hours per location.
    • Must enter the location and a description of what you completed when volunteering.
    • Please be sure to get contact information of the coordinator of said event.
  • Hours start on April 1 through March 31 of every year.
  • Hours must be completed outside of the students home, school day, and must benefit the community.
  • Hours constitute only volunteer work for which no payment can be received.

Any hours not documented in School Links will not be counted for the graduation cord. Any hours submitted after March 31 will not be counted for graduation cords.
